A Hair Raising Story
Wednesday, August 1, 2007
The first day of August – time is going by so fast! Yesterday we found out that my Kenyan sister had a baby boy! Mama and Fava are grandparents and I am a Kenyan Aunt...haha! So tomorrow I will accompany Mama to go visit the new born in Embu. It should be a very nice trip I think. Yesterday I also got by hair unprinted so it is REALLY frizzy...and also very greasy. But i'ts really nice to put it in a pony tail. I will wash it this morning and then it will be back to normal. I will be getting it printed again this week – rasta style! That way it will be nice for the workcamp. It's going to be a busy week because I also have to prepare to head back to Nairobi for my work camp. I will leave on Sunday.
After being unprinted yesterday I played with Jackie. We sang songs, played hopscotch, "checkers", tic-tac-toe and "the dot game". We also did some math and english homework. It was a very nice afternoon. Mrs.Njeru is so nice and she has a great family.
So I washed my hair and its back to normal...kind of. Alot of hair is falling out because none has fallen out for a whole month, so now all the dead hair is free to remove itself from my scalp. And I think my hair is a bit stressed from the tight braids. Even so its really comfortable to return to my normal state of being, I feel more like myself. Strange that a hair style can have such a masive effect on my sense of self.
